In spring of 2017, SUNY Plattsburgh's Information Security Analyst and Systems Librarian in Library & Information Technology Services contacted the ILL department to participate in a pilot review of security protection and best practices in context of the ILLiad system and ILL workflow. A questionnaire from the NIST Special Publication 800-171 entitled, "Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations" was the tool used in the review. While not every question was applicable, there were a number of questions that were very relevant showing a gap in security measures or opportunities to reconsider the current workflow. The concerns the evolved from the questions were addressed by modifications in the student workflow or changes in methods of accountability. This presentation will share the top questions relevant to the ILL workflow changes, actions taken to address the security issues and discuss the concerns related to ILL.
