When weeding library materials, you should consider the MUSTIE concept: M - Misleading and/or factually inaccurate U - Ugly or worn beyond repair S - Superseded by a new edition T - Trivial or of no literary or scientific merit I - Irrelevant to the needs and interest of your users E - Easily borrowed from another source Learn how two libraries conducted weeding projects within their institutions. Heidi Webb from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry will discuss how the misfits of an inventory process morphed into massive weeding and what best practices were employed. Simone L. Yearwood from CUNY Queens College will discuss her library's weeding project to prepare for relocating the periodicals into an offsite storage facility to make room for a library makerspace.
